  3. The installation program automatically updates the files necessary
  4. to configure your network.  When you click on the "Drive" icon...

  8. ...a screen called "Drive Connections" appears.  Here is where you 
  9. redirect the drive resources you need from servers on the network to
  10. your computer.

  12. When you click on the "Printer" icon...

  16. ...a "Printer Connections" screen appears.  Here is where you select 
  17. the printer you want to direct to your computer.

  21. After you choose a machine name, you need to decide whether you 
  22. want your machine to be a server or a workstation.  If you choose
  23. "workstation," other machines cannot share its resources.  By
  24. choosing "server," your machine will be able to share its resources
  25. with other computers on the network.

  29. If you indicate that you wish to "Install Default Resources and Group
  30. Account," LANtastic will automatically set up your disk driver and
  31. LPT1 port as shared resources.  This will also set up a "*" group
  32. account that will let any user log in, using any user name and
  33. password.  By not invoking this command, you can designate which
  34. resources you will make available, and specify who can use them.

  38. When you choose the "Directory" icon, the installation and Control
  39. Directory screen will appear.  You may choose a different directory
  40. name, but we recommend you accept the default names.

  44. The "Startup" icon gives you the option to let LANtastic build your
  45. STARTNET.BAT file.  Or you can choose "Do Not Build" and create your
  46. own STARTNET.BAT file after installation.  We recommend you let
  47. LANtastic build your file.

  51. Choose the network adapter type and driver you are using by
  52. scrolling through the choices until you find the correct adapters and
  53. drivers.  In most cases, you should leave the driver choice at "ALL,"
  54. the default setting.

  58. The "Drives" and "Printers" icons, under the Resource Connections"
  59. heading, allow you to set up disk drive and printer connections to 
  60. servers.  These connections are created whenever you run the 
  61. "Startup Batch File."

  66. specify the settings for your computer's CONFIG.SYS and
  67. AUTOEXEC.BAT files.
